Game texts

From 22 Stix, for the players in its pickup hockey groups.

22 Stix keeps the roster for pickup hockey groups, and texts the players who ask for it, so they can answer IN or OUT without opening anything. The texts come from one toll-free number and are only ever about your group's games. There is no marketing.

How you sign up

Texts are optional and off until you ask. Players join by invite from the organizer. On the join form, or later on the welcome screen after signing in, there is one box, and it starts unticked:

Text me about 22 Stix games at your mobile number: when a game opens, a reminder if I haven't replied, the confirmed roster, and when a spot opens up for me. Usually 3 texts per game, never more than 4. Reply STOP to stop, HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply.

Ticking it doesn't start anything yet. We send one text asking you to reply JOIN, and nothing else is sent unless you do. This is how the box looks on the join form:

The 22 Stix join form: name, email and mobile fields, then the unticked consent box with the wording above, the bot check and the Email me my code button.

What we send

Usually three texts per game and never more than four, plus one more if the organizer cancels a game you haven't said OUT to. Sign-in codes are sent only when you ask for one. Each text starts with “22 Stix:”. These samples use an example game; a real text names that game's own day, time and rink.

What you can reply

IN
You're playing in the next game.
OUT
You can't make it.
STATUS
Who's in so far.
HELP
Who we are and how to reach a person.
STOP
No more texts of any kind, straight away.
UNSTOP
Texts start again.

You can also pause texts, or choose which ones you get, on the Me tab after signing in. The website does everything the texts do, so you never need texts to play.
