About 22 Stix

Recreational pickup hockey in Ottawa, Canada.

What we do

22 Stix runs the RSVPs for pickup hockey: who's in for each game, who's on the waitlist, and the reminders that keep a game full, and fair teams in one tap. Twenty skaters and two goalies make a game. Any pickup group can use it: the site is free to use, nothing is sold here and there is no advertising.

Our group

Friday Night Pickup is a long-standing Ottawa ice time, grandfathered in and kept going for many years by a group of players who have been friends for decades. Newcomers join every season, and there is room for more. 22stix.ca started in 2026 as the group's own website, to run the weekly roster, and now other groups can start their own.

How a game comes together

  1. The organizer posts the season's games and invites each player with a personal link.
  2. When a game opens, players say IN or OUT — on the site, or by replying to a text if they have turned texts on.
  3. Once twenty skaters and two goalies are in, the game is full and the waitlist takes any spot that opens.
  4. The day before, the confirmed roster goes up on the game page, and out by text to anyone who wants it.

Where we play

Each game shows its own day, time and rink to the players in it.

Who runs it

22 Stix is run by the group's organizer as a sole proprietor, on a volunteer basis, from Ottawa. Players join through the organizer, who sends each one a personal invite. Want to play, or have a question? Get in touch.
